MT13 have been running coach education courses and hockey camps throughout the UK since 2008, coaching over 1,300 coaches and over 5000 players. Our success is in essence a result of our founding principles: to deliver quality coaching with low coach-to-attendee ratio.

Our coaches play the game themselves and to a very high standard. Our current line up includes GB and England Player, David Ames; Women’s Double Olympian, Alex Danson as well as Ex International, Matt Taylor.

Director of the University of Nottingham Hockey programme since 2010, Matt Taylor is one of the top domestic hockey coaches in the UK. As well as leading the UoN Men’s team to the national British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) title in 2015, Matt has won 3 Premier League championships and the EHB Cup with local National League side Beeston Hockey Club.

A former England senior international, Matt has won four National League championships and three National Cups with Cannock HC as a player.

To ensure we maintain coaches’ and players’ interests and enjoyment we’re constantly changing the theme and equipment used as well as incorporating new, best-in-class training and coaching techniques. For example, in addition to our 2 Day and Residential Camps, we introduced in 2014 an Elite Performance Camp concept. A first of this kind, it gives the players more focus on the techniques and skills they want to improve by tailoring the sessions based each players requirements and keeping the coaching ratio 4-1. In the September 2014 we launched the MT13 Skill Tests after successfully trialling the tests during our own Residential Camps.

History

MT13 was founded by ex-England International, Matt Taylor.

Matt wore the number 13 shirt whilst playing at Cannock Hockey Club, between 2000-2009, and continued this trend when moving back to Beeston Hockey Club in 2010.

Passionate about developing grassroots hockey, Matt believes that the success of our future national teams is reliant on developing both coaches and players in schools and clubs across the UK.

By making available the best training and coaching programmes through MT13, he believes that players can build on the Olympic legacy and achieve their full potential.
