Academy 13 x Repton HC (Summer 2024)
Successfully launched in autumn 2023 and gearing up the Olypmians of the future, Academy 13 x Repton Hockey Club returns for summer 2024!
Please book your child into their actual age group, MT13 will discuss with Repton HC if any child should be moved up from U12s to U14s.
Timings
Wednesday evenings with 5 weeks from 24 April 2024 - a break for half-term - then a further 3 weeks from 5 June 2024.
- 6.30 - 8pm (U8 | U10 | U12) - School Years 3 - 7 inclusive
- 8 - 9.30pm (U14s) - (School Years 8 & 9)
Location: Repton School Sports Centre, DE65 6FH
Headed up by Matt Taylor, the sessions will run on a ratio of ca. 1:15. The Academy is geared around improving tactical considerations, technical skills, physical capability and psychological strength.
The 8 week academy looks to enhance players ability to influence the game both from a tactical and technical view point. The first 5 weeks the majority of the focused will be development through skill schools and drills and the last 3 weeks, once squads are identified, the focus shifts towards development of the tactical side of the game developed through match play. Players will be sent the session breakdown each week, in advance of the session.
Weeks 1-5:
- Development of essential core skills
- Penalty corner attack techniques (Injection | Trap | Hit | Flick | Deflections)
- Position specific technical development i.e. Back unit players – aerial ball | forwards – finishing skills
- The art of defending – Team defence alongside 1v1 scenarios
- Tactical considerations developed through small sided game play
Weeks 6-8:
- Tactical development through small sided game play
- Tactical development through 7v7 and 11v11 match play (Depending on age group)
